Performing Arts

Performing Arts

At Bradford Forster Academy students study 2 hours a week of Performing Arts. Currently Drama and Music are delivered to every student. The curriculum is broad and challenging and our aim to ensure students develop a love of creativity and engagement with the Arts.

We are passionate that every child has the opportunity to express themselves and have confidence in their ideas. The Performing arts has a recognised effect on student’s life and learning skills also. We promote and teach resilience, team work and respect to name but a few.

Our extracurricular calendar is packed with clubs and prove very popular with our students. Currently we have Rock School running as well as our rehearsals for The Wizard of Oz.

To enhance our philosophy, Extracurricular and enrichment opportunities are provided to run alongside the Performing Arts curriculum. Here at BFA, we are really lucky to be able to provide free of charge; quality guitar, singing, piano and drumming tuition with plans to open up more musical peripatetic opportunities as the school grows.

We celebrate the talent and success of the students throughout the year, with an emphasis on public performances whenever possible.

Rehearsals are now under way for our first School Musical which is planned for March 2017. We will be performing at BBEC school in December as part of a collaborative event with other BDAT schools ‘BDAT- Be there’ which will involve over 150 students from across 4 schools to share their talents with family and the community. We can’t wait! In April a number of our pupils will be performing at the Bradford Youth Prom as part of Blast.
